SOS Inventory costs $74.95 a month for Companion, $144.95 for Plus and $199.95 for Pro, or $749.50, $1,449.50 and $1,999.50 a year with two months free. Companion includes 2 users, Plus 3 and Pro 5. Extra users and each external connection cost about $25 a month. Prices are in US dollars and come from the SOS Inventory pricing page.
| Plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing | Users included | Locations | External connections |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Companion | $74.95 | $749.50 (about $62 a month) | 2 | 1 | 1 |
| Plus | $144.95 | $1,449.50 (about $121 a month) | 3 | Unlimited | 2 |
| Pro | $199.95 | $1,999.50 (about $167 a month) | 5 | Unlimited | 3 |
All three plans include the QuickBooks Online integration, sales orders, assemblies and email support. Every plan starts with a 14 day free trial that opens the full feature set. There is no permanent free plan.
The jump from Companion to Plus is the one most small distributors hit. Companion is limited to a single location and one custom field. Plus adds unlimited locations, serial and lot tracking, bin tracking, barcoding, units of measure, transfers, item variants, pick tickets, contract pricing, price levels, RMAs and phone support.
Pro adds what manufacturers and larger wholesalers ask for: a customer portal, reorder points calculated from history, landed costs, job costing, work orders, work centers, work in progress tracking, labor tracking and priority support, plus unlimited custom fields. If you only sell and warehouse product, Plus usually covers it. If you build product to order, Pro is the plan to price.
The extras are small per item but add up. SOS Inventory lists additional users at $25 a month in its comparison table and FAQ, although the plan cards show $30, so confirm the figure on your quote. Each external connection, such as a shopping cart or an FTP site, is $25 a month.
| Setup (monthly billing) | Monthly cost |
|---|---|
| Companion, 2 users, 1 connection | $74.95 |
| Plus, 5 users (2 extra), 3 connections (1 extra) | $144.95 + $50 + $25 = $219.95 |
| Pro, 5 users, 3 connections | $199.95 |
The second row is worth a look. A five person team that needs a fifth seat and a third connection pays more on Plus than on Pro, and gets fewer features. Count users and connections before you pick a tier.
SOS Inventory is built to run stock, sales orders, purchasing and manufacturing. It does not read a customer's own purchase order. When a trade customer emails a PDF, someone still opens it and types the lines into a sales order, or builds a spreadsheet for the SOS import.
That import is a good one. SOS Inventory exports a template from Tools & settings then Export data, you fill it in without changing any heading, and Import data previews the first 10 lines before it creates new sales orders. It cannot edit existing orders. The slow part is filling the template from the PDF. A SOS Inventory sales order import workflow that starts from the PDF removes that step, and the order desk reviews instead of retyping.
Ask what an order costs you in time. A desk that keys 40 orders of 15 lines a week handles 600 lines, and at 30 seconds a line that is five hours before any checking. Over a year it is a larger line item than the difference between Plus and Pro.
The same arithmetic applies to the accounting side. Most SOS Inventory shops sync with QuickBooks Online, and the other paper that piles up there is the bank statement, which turns a PDF statement into a file QuickBooks Online will import.
Annual plans include two months free. Over twelve months that saves $149.90 on Companion ($899.40 monthly against $749.50), $289.90 on Plus ($1,739.40 against $1,449.50) and $399.90 on Pro ($2,399.40 against $1,999.50). The saving is real, but it commits you for the year, so use the 14 day trial to load a few real products and customers first. SOS Inventory also says new customers occasionally get limited time discounts, so ask before you pay.
Two tests tell you more than a feature tour. First, import ten of your real products and five customers through the Import data screen, since a clean import is what a live rollout depends on. Second, take one customer purchase order that arrived as a PDF and see how long it takes to get that order into a sales order. If the second test takes twenty minutes, multiply by your weekly order count before you compare plans, because that time is the cost the subscription does not touch.
Also check which of your sales channels count as external connections. A shopping cart and an FTP drop are each billed at $25 a month, so a business with three channels on Companion is already past the plan's single included connection.
Companion suits a one location reseller with two people and a single sales channel. Plus suits a distributor with a warehouse, several bins, contract pricing for trade customers and up to three people in the system. Pro suits a manufacturer or a wholesaler with a customer portal and job costing needs. If trade customers send you their own purchase orders, the plan matters less than how those orders get into the system.
Companion is $74.95 a month, Plus is $144.95 and Pro is $199.95 on monthly billing. Annual billing gives two months free, which works out to about $62, $121 and $167 a month. Extra users and external connections are about $25 a month each.
